MARTIN CO. – Eligible homeowners in Martin County can now apply for grants to fund various home improvements, thanks to a grant received by the Southern Indiana Development Commission from USDA Rural Development.
To qualify, homeowners must own and reside in the house. Eligible improvements include roofing, HVAC, electrical, accessible entryways, and water heaters. Properties in a 100-year floodplain, contract sales, and single-wide trailers are not eligible.
Assistance is income-based and dependent on household size.
Interested homeowners can contact SIDC at 812-295-3707 and speak with Jenny Dearwester, Housing Program Manager, to be placed on an application waiting list. Applicants must provide a copy of the recorded deed and 2024 social security and SSI income.
