BLOOMINGTON – The Monroe County Democratic Party Central Committee will hold a caucus for the vacant District 5 seat on the Bloomington City Council.
Former District 5 representative Shruti Rana resigned on February 7 to accept the positions of Assistant Vice Chancellor for Inclusive Excellence and Strategic Initiatives and Professor of Law at the University of Missouri.
Three candidates are seeking the District 5 seat. They are Jenny Stevens, Rana’s former political opponent in the District 5 race, former Bloomington Fire Department Chief Jason Moore, and Courtney Daily, the former chapter lead of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.
The caucus will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 2 at Bloomington City Hall, 401 North Morton Street.
It will be preceded by a candidate forum at 2:00 p.m. on February 24 at the Monroe County Public Library, 303 East Kirkwood Avenue.
