UNION CITY – On Monday, February 19, 2024, detectives from the Indiana State Police Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force (ICAC) and detectives from the Indiana State Police Pendleton District arrested a 64-year-old Union City man on charges of Possession of Child Pornography following a search warrant at his residence.
The investigation began in July 2023 as an internet tip and started an undercover operation. During the seven-month investigation, detectives were able to determine that an individual at a residence near the 3000 block of S County Road 900 E in Union City, Indiana, had child pornography. During the service of the search warrant, the Indiana State Police electronic detection K-9, Titus, was utilized, and several electronic devices were found and seized. Detectives located and arrested Wade Dean McDermitt, 64, of Union City.
Wade Dean McDermitt was transported to the Randolph County Jail without incident and preliminarily charged with child pornography, a Level 5 felony, possession of child pornography depicting a child under 12 years old, a Level 5 felony, possession of child pornography depicting a child under the age of 12 years old, a Level 6 felony, possession of child pornography depicting a child under the age of 18 a Level 6 felony.
