Constellation presents the regional professional premiere of The Play That Goes Wrong

BLOOMINGTON – “The funniest play I have ever seen on Broadway or anywhere else!” – WABC-TV

Constellation is thrilled to bring Bloomington the regional professional premiere of the Broadway hit The Play That Goes Wrong this spring.

Directed by Constellation Artistic Director Chad Rabinovitz, who recently made his Off-Broadway directorial debut, The Play That Goes Wrong runs March 21 – April 7 at the Waldron Auditorium in downtown Bloomington.

Monty Python meets Noises Off in this slapstick farce! Welcome to the opening night of The Murder at Haversham Manor, where things are quickly going from bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead, and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), comic gold will surely bring down the house.

The Play That Goes Wrong originated on London’s West End in 2013 and moved to Broadway in 2017. The play won The Olivier Award and BroadwayWorld Award for Best New Comedy of the Year. Packed with physical comedy and outrageous stage effects, Constellation is thrilled to bring one of the most ambitious productions we’ve ever staged to the Bloomington community.

The Play That Goes Wrong brings together talented performers from Bloomington and beyond. The show stars local actors Michael Sheehan, a Bloomington Playwrights Project Alumni; Alanna Porter, a current IU Musical Theater major; and returning from Constellation’s production of Holmes and Watson are Gavin Douglas, Bobby Ayala Perez, and David Sheehan. Rounding out the cast are Peter Sipla, a Chicago-based actor who was last seen in Cardinal Stage’s 2011 production of A Year with Frog and Toad; Haley Glickman, an Indianapolis-based actor and playwright; and Andy McCain, a New York actor who recently performed in Off-Broadway!

Constellation’s Artistic Director, Chad Rabinovitz, who recently directed Glitches in Reality and Deathtrap at Constellation, is at the helm of the production.

Chad first encountered the show a couple of years ago, “one of my favorite moments in a theater EVER was seeing The Play That Goes Wrong on Broadway. I can’t remember laughing that much at anything! I can’t wait to be able to bring all this fun to Bloomington.”

Joining the creative team are Fight Choreographer Leraldo Anzaldua, Scenic Designer Cody Rutledge, Lighting Designer Erika Johnson, Props Master Aubrey Kreuger, Props Artisan Barb Steininger, Stage Manager Topher Ropher, and Assistant Stage Managers Chelsea Pell and Katie Ayer.
