BEDFORD- On February 20, 2024, at 04:59 PM, BPD officer Jarrett Tedrow was dispatched to Arby’s Restaurant in Bedford about an issue between family members disputing vehicle ownership
Upon arrival, Officer Tedrow observed a male and female standing outside a blue Ford Focus. The male
was later identified as Timothy Storms, and the female was later identified as Stacy Boulerice.
A passenger of the Ford was later identified as April May, wife of Corbett May. Stacy is Corbett May’s sister.
Indiana State Police had arrested Corbett May on an outstanding warrant, and April was left with the vehicle.
Timothy was able to provide the title of the Ford. The title showed a sale occurring in December
2023, where “Corbett May” is listed as the seller, and “Evelynn May” is listed as the purchaser.
Additionally, Evelynn is Corbett’s daughter. While most events occurred, Evelynn was with her young child inside Arby’s Restaurant when most of the events occurred.
The Ford was still registered to Corbett May. However, a document stating it was sold by Corbett May to Evelynn May in December 2023 was presented.
It was determined that the vehicle belonged to Evelynn. Because Corbett May was no
longer the owner of the Ford, his wife, April May, was also no longer the owner of the Ford.
April agreed to exit the Focus and gather her belongings from the vehicle. She called for a ride to
pick her up. A male arrived to help April with her belongings. This male was later identified as Steven R. Thorp.
A disagreement continued over the belongings from inside the vehicle. Parties continued to
insult each other, with Steven and Stacy being the main offenders of name-calling and rising tensions.
At one point, Timothy identified a black duffle bag as belonging to him and found a
name tag with his name on it. Timothy took possession of the duffle bag and placed it into the bed of his
GMC Sierra pickup. He also placed a metal box of coins into the bed of his pickup.
As Timothy placed the metal box into his truck bed, Steven reached into the truck bed and
grabbed and pulled Timothy’s left arm. Timothy reared back with his right arm in a motion for a punch
but did not throw a punch. Police stepped in between Steven and Timothy and separated
the two males. Timothy exclaimed that he wanted to pursue criminal charges against Steven.
Steven was placed under arrest. He was transported to the Bedford Police Department for
processing, then to the Lawrence County Jail for housing.
Officer Bell remained on-scene with Timothy, where a battery affidavit was completed, naming
Steven ias the accused. The Ford was released to Evelynn, who is the apparent owner of the Ford according to the title.
Steven’s Chevrolet pickup was released to a valid driver at his request.
