BEDFORD – One person is dead and another seriously injured after a fire ravaged a home Monday night.
The Indiana State Fire Marshal is investigating.
The fire was reported at 11:11 p.m. after a report of a possible explosion at 1911 12th Street.
Bedford Fire Chief Luke Pinnick said firefighters from Bedford Fire Station 2 arrived first at the scene and found heavy fire in the living room area.
Firefighters from all three stations responded. They were able to bring the blaze under control quickly.
One person was seriously injured and was transported by an IU LifeLine ambulance to IU Bedford Hospital and then flown to another hospital for treatment. That person’s condition is not known at this time.
A second person was pronounced dead at the scene.
The names of the victims are being withheld until family members have been contacted.
The State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate.
