MONROE COUNTY- The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation following the discovery of human skeletal remains in a wooded area near the Monroe County Airport on March 2, 2024. The remains were found by a hiker, prompting the investigation.
In collaboration with the Monroe County Coroner’s Office and an anthropology team from the University of Indianapolis, Monroe County Sheriff’s Detectives are actively working to identify the
individual. Currently, Detectives have identified evidence suggesting that foul play is not involved and
are reviewing missing person reports from the past year to gather any potential leads.
