MONROE CO. — Human skeletal remains were found in the woods in Monroe County, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Law enforcement officials launched an investigation after a hiker found the skeletal remains in a wooded area near the Monroe County Airport on Saturday, March 2.
Detectives will actively work with the Monroe County Coroner’s Office and the University of Indianapolis anthropology team to identify the individual.
Authorities have identified evidence that suggested that foul play was not involved. However, investigators are reviewing missing person reports from 2023.
