BEDFORD — The Lawrence County Commissioners met Tuesday morning to discuss the Indiana Department of Transportation detour established for work on State Road 60 after a rock slide.
No date has been set for when the cleanup will begin.
Highway Superintendent Brandi Webb contacted INDOT to reach a compromise, but they refused to address the issue. According to Commissioner Dustin Gabhart, INDOT refuses to close the highway to a single lane.
Gabhart is concerned because the detour will take big trucks on Beaver Creek Road.
“Many trucks have been stuck on that hill,” added Gabhart. Since they don’t want to compromise, I guess INDOT will be pulling many trucks off the hill during the 45-day closure.
