HENRY CO. – On Thursday, March 14, at approximately 1:19 a.m., Indiana State Trooper Ray Otter was conducting a directed enforcement patrol on Interstate US 36 near County Road 100 E when he noticed a Dodge Stratus with an equipment violation.
Trooper Otter initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle and spoke to the driver. During the interaction with the passenger, Trooper Otter noticed signs of criminal activity and contacted Henry County Sheriff’s Department Sergeant Brandy Pierce and her K9 partner Zoro to assist.
After Sergeant Pierce and K-9 Zorro arrived, Zoro performed an open-air sniff of the vehicle. Zoro gave a positive indication of the presence of narcotics in the vehicle. Officers conducted a subsequent search of the car and occupants and located approximately four grams of heroin along with other drug paraphernalia on the passenger.
The passenger, 29-year-old Bridget Rose Taylor, of New Castle, was arrested and preliminarily charged with possession of a narcotic drug and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Trooper Otter transported Taylor to the Henry County Jail without further incident.
