PENDLETON — Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas G. Carter announced Sergeant Coley McCutcheon’s promotion to First Sergeant. First Sergeant Coley McCutcheon will serve as the Assistant District Commander for the Pendleton Post.
McCutcheon was chosen from a group of candidates who competed in a promotion process, which included a written test, oral interview, and overall work performance.
First Sergeant McCutcheon is a native of Huntington, Indiana, and graduated from Huntington North High School in 1993. He graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 2000.
In 2004, McCutcheon graduated from the 64th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy and was appointed a Trooper, assigned to the Lafayette District. He transferred to the Redkey District in 2006 until its closing in 2010. After the Redkey District closed, McCutcheon served in the Pendleton District until 2013. He was then selected and re-assigned to the motorcycle patrol working out of the Special Operations section. In 2020, McCutcheon was promoted to Sergeant, where he served as a field supervisor for troopers assigned to the Pendleton District.
In his new role as Assistant District Commander, First Sergeant McCutcheon will assist the District Commander with day-to-day district operations and administrative duties.
During his career, McCutcheon has served as a member of the Motorcycle Patrol, Crash Reconstruction Team, Honor Guard, Tactical Intervention Platoon, and served as a Field Training Officer.
First Sergeant McCutcheon resides in Delaware County with his wife Jenny, their daughter Hailey, and their son Cooper.
