SEYMOUR – Two men are facing theft and burglary charges after Seymour Police began an investigation into the burglary of a Ranger Enterprise warehouse in 2023.
On December 4, 2023, officers responded to East A Avenue in Freeman Field Industrial Complex after a report of the crime.
When officers arrived, they discovered the warehouse’s door handle had been manipulated, and those who broke in took more than $1,000 worth of items.
The following day, investigators had two possible suspects, 28-year-old Sloan Smith of Seymour and 35-year-old Steven E. Fettinger of Norman. They learned Smith was in the Jackson County Jail on a non-related crime.
They located Smith’s vehicle on County Road 100 South in Jackson County and seized the SUV and found some of the stolen items inside.
Two days after the break-in and theft, investigators responded to Kimberly Mobile Home Park after receiving information that some of the stolen property might be there. They did locate some of the stolen items.
On December 7, 2023, investigators attempted to speak with Smith. He declined to speak with investigators. Fettinger was not located at that time.
On March 13, 2024, investigators learned that the second Fettinger had been located south of Seymour. Investigators interviewed him. He was arrested and transported to jail.
