BEDFORD – The Agape Kids House 4K is Saturday, April 6, at 8 a.m.
Officials look forward to celebrating the eclipse and raising money for the Agape Kids House with the Lawrence County Tourism Board.
Agape Kids House started with a vision to improve the lives of foster children in our community. It is more than just a house. It offers home-cooked meals, a warm bed, clothes to wear, and a place to take a breath.
“Agape (Kids House of Lawrence County) is a much-needed, wonderful cause for the youth of our community! Giving a child hope, who otherwise may feel hopeless, could be a life-changing opportunity for them,” said Angie Sipes.
Agape Kids House is home for a moment for children going through the most challenging day of their lives. They support foster and kinship families in our community through a foster closet, events, and more.
In 2018, John and Becky Goller started the Lawrence County Foster Support Group with the idea of making a difference in the lives of Foster Families in the Lawrence County Community. A small foster closet full of clothes and the dream of opening a home led to the Agape Kids House of Lawrence County.
“Benchmark is so grateful for your (Agape Kids House of Lawrence County) services,” said Brandy Pollock of Benchmark Family Service. “You have helped our families multiple times with new placements. We would not have been able to get kids in the homes so quickly without your assistance”
In 2022, Agape moved into its current house and opened the door to foster children who needed a comfortable place while DCS looked for their placement. Since opening in 2022, they have helped more than 200 children find comfort during the start of their foster care journey. Through their work, they hope children can find peace while DCS works to find the best placement possible.
The 4K course is a 2-loop tour of the Lawrence County Fairgrounds. It is primarily hard-packed gravel and rolling. This 4K (2.5 miles) is open to all runners and walkers. There are no age-group awards. However, each registered person will receive a t-shirt, and every finisher will receive a commemorative medal.
Pre-registration is strongly recommended; a t-shirt and finisher medal will be guaranteed.
You can donate on the Agape Kid House website if you can’t make the 4K.
