BEDFORD – Canine Zazu alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle, and two are detained on meth charges.
On Friday, March 29, at 11:49 p.m., Bedford Police Officer Zakry Brooking was patrolling south on State Road when he noticed a Dodge Challenger in front of him drive across the center line and swerve back.
He initiated a traffic stop at State Road 37 and River Bluff Road.
The driver was 43-year-old Aaron Sanders, and his passenger was 35-year-old Jessica White.
Sanders had never received a valid driver’s license.
Sgt. Faheem Bade utilized his canine partner Zazu, who alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle.
Sanders stated there was no reason for the dog to alert on his car.
During a search, police found a small plastic bottle inside a Burger King bag that contained crystal meth, a cut straw with meth residue, two hydrocodone and acetaminophen bitartrate pills, and a folded dollar bill. A THC vape cartridge was also found in White’s purse.
Sanders told police he does not do drugs, and the items did not belong to him. He said he had picked White up at the BP station on 16th Street, and they were going back to her house to have sex.
White claimed ownership of the THC but denied the drugs were hers.
Both Sanders and White were arrested.
Sanders was arrested on charges of possession of meth and a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and operating a vehicle without a driver’s license.
White is facing charges of possession of meth, possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
Jacksons Heavy Haul towed the vehicle.
