BEDFORD—Shawswick Volunteer Fire Department Chief Bob Brown announced that the department and Lawrence County Fire Territory are planning for the upcoming eclipse.
With the support of their boards and trustee, personnel have worked very hard on coordinating a response plan to increase the department’s ability to respond to public safety needs in the area.
This plan includes:
- Doubling on-duty crew numbers, making for eight paid standby personnel.
- A second ambulance will be on duty and available for EMS emergencies.
- Personnel will be spread out across our jurisdiction, supplemented by those volunteering.
- Staging of additional UTVs to increase our ability to maneuver in the event of congested roads.
“Our amazing community partners Lawrence County Equipment has graciously donated the use of an UTV for the day and Farmer’s Market will be hosting a crew staged at State Road 446 and US 50,” said Chief Brown. “In addition, one of our members, Kyle Brown, has also donated the use of his UTV. And, of course, our many dedicated volunteers who are donating their time to help expand our planned coverage for the day.”
“We will continually evaluate conditions and response needs, adjusting our resources as necessary,” Brown added.
