BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day requested the commissioners’ permission to auction off several department vehicles and excess and outdated equipment accumulated at the department.
“We have several vehicles,” added Sheriff Day. “Some need work. For example, we have a 2011 Crown Vic that needs a new transmission. What doesn’t auction I would like to have permission to scrap the vehicles.”
Sheriff Day says more than 20 years of accumulated equipment have piled up.
“We are in the process of sorting the items,” he added. We will destroy what we can’t sell to other departments or auction.”
The items will be auctioned online.
This morning, 97 inmates were housed at the jail. Of those, 75 were males, 22 were females, seven were Department of Correction holds, three were parole holds, and seven were Level 6 felons.
