MITCHELL – Lawrence County Police Department and Mitchell Police Department officers responded to the 900 block of Newby Street on Sunday, April 7, at 6:10 p.m. to detain 28-year-old Dustin Grubb, who was wanted on a warrant for domestic battery, criminal confinement, and interfering with a police investigation.
When officers arrived at the mobile home, Officer Kenton Carter and Sgt. Anthony Pope knocked on the door while Officer Robin Compton stationed himself on the west side of the trailer, and Officers Brenten Trueblood and Officer Thomas Porter were on the north and east sides of the trailer.
While knocking on the door, officers heard rustling under the trailer. They removed pieces of the underpinning and ordered Grubb to come out from under the mobile home. Grubb exited on the south side of the trailer and ran east. Officers ordered Grubb to stop running. Officers Carter and Trueblood both discharged their TASERS but were not successful in making skin contact through Grubb’s jacket. Sgt. Pope caught up with Grubb and escorted him to the ground.
While searching Grubb police found 0.23 grams of crystal meth in a baggy and two used syringes that tested positive for the drug.
Grubb is now facing new charges of possession of meth, unlawful possession of a syringe, and resisting arrest.
