BLOOMINGTON – Bloomington North edged Bedford North Lawrence and Mooresville during Unified track action on Thursday night.
The Cougars won the meet with 190 points, followed by the Stars (174) and Pioneers (137).
Winners for BNL included the 800 meter relay (Jaxon Donnell, Josh Morales, Deja Hanners and Zoe Shelton in 2:02.92) and Trace Walters (15.24 in the 100).
“This was a good opening meet for us because both teams are good teams, and Bloomington North is always a good measuring stick for us, especially this early in the season,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “Additionally, this meet starts off as a challenge for us since the format is a bit different than regular meets. We did score 8 athletes per event, so for a team that only has 16 or 17 kids like we do, it pushes our kids to try events that they wouldn’t normally try.
“We have several new kids on who we are relying, and, with the weather so far this spring, last night was our first real chance to see how the team is coming together and was the new members’ first chance to experience a unified meet and Unified atmosphere. And, although we fell short of our goal last night, I am proud of our kids, their attitudes, and their efforts.”
BNL will visit Jasper on Wednesday.
