BEDFORD – A Bedford Police officer arrested a driver after he was found passed out in his vehicle on Thursday, April 11, on Great Escape Drive.
Police arrested 60-year-old Michael Cain on charges of possession meth greater than 10 grams, public intoxication, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bedford Police Capt. Emmons was on patrol on Great Escape Drive when he noticed a blue Ford pickup and a male slumped over in the driver’s seat. Capt. Emmons approached the vehicle and attempted to wake the driver. Cain had slurred speech and was lethargic. In his right hand was a blue cylindrical container.
The container had 15 grams of crystal meth in it. There was a straw lying at Cain’s feet on the floorboard.
Cain was asked to step out of the vehicle. In his pocket, police found two more containers. One contained 5 grams of crystal meth, and the other had two rolled-up dollar bills that contained crystal meth. A glass smoking device was found on the center console.
Cain was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital for a medical evaluation. Once medically cleared, he was transported back to jail.
