BEDFORD – Indiana State Trooper Benjamin Burris was on patrol at 4:24 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, when he spotted a possible intoxicated driver on State Road 37.
According to police, the driver, 50-year-old Jason Slaughter, had slurred speech and glassy eyes and was staggering when he exited the vehicle.
Indiana State Trooper Jesse Crane assisted at the scene.
Slaughter told the troopers he had hit something while traveling on State Road 37.
Slaughter failed several field sobriety tests and had a blood alcohol level of 0.257 percent. He was transported to IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Slaughter was arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, OWI with a blood-alcohol level of 0.15 percent or higher.
