SPRINGVILLE – A Bloomington man was arrested on domestic battery charges after a warrant was issued for his arrest.
On February 23, 2024, Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to reports of a domestic dispute in the 300 block of Popcorn Road.
The first caller was 41-year-old Jason George. He reported his wife had attacked him, and he had left the home. The second call was from George’s wife, who reported her husband had attacked her.
Deputy Pruett traveled to Johnny Junxtion to meet with George, and Deputy Bailey Clifford Duprey went to the home on Popcorn Road to meet with the female.
The woman told police she and her husband were going through a divorce and he was staying with his sister in Bloomington. She was in a bedroom when George showed up at the house. He walked into the house and went to the bedroom the woman was in and told a child to leave the room. The two then got into an argument which then turned physical. George allegedly grabbed her by her shirt attempting to grab her cellphone. He then pinned her against a door. While she was pinned she told police she attempted to hit George several times to get him to let her lose. She said she was never hit during the altercation but was pushed and restrained by George. The two juveniles in the house attempted to intervene on their mother’s behalf.
One of the juveniles grabbed a knife and told George if he didn’t let his mother go he would stab him.
George let the woman go after retrieving the phone.
The woman suffered redness on her arms, and it appeared to be from pressure from fingers grasping her arms. She also complained of pain in her wrist, which was swollen. The woman said she would drive herself to the hospital to have her wrist examined.
The woman signed a battery affidavit.
George also signed a battery affidavit.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for George’s arrest.
