BEDFORD – The weather finally broke, and Edgewood’s horse were ready to run.
The Mustangs swept to dual wins over Bedford North Lawrence on Tuesday, taking advantage of ideal conditions to take the boys meet by a 76-50 count, while Edgewood dominated the girls meet by a 99-19 final.
The Stars won five events in the two meets.
In the boys, the 3200 relay squad of Jonah Bailey, Alex Nicholson, Jerrett Gilbert and Nick Lindley posted a victory, Jayden Duke took the 110 high hurdles in 19.56, and Oliver Brown cleared 10-0 to top the pole vault.
“We’re just happy to get a full meet in nice weather so we can see where we are,” BNL coach Brett Deckard said. “The kids competed well, we’re just trying to figure out where they fit the best. We are a couple of weeks behind because of all the rainy weather.”
In the girls meet, freshman Paige Voigtschild crossed first in the 800 in 2:38.98, while the 3200 relay of Voigtschild, Elise Williams, Gracie Simmerman and Francesca Orozco combined to win in 11:01.47
“It was good to get a meet in without getting wet,” BNL coach Jason Webb said. “Paige ran well again in the distance races. Sprint times were better tonight with the warmer weather.”
Complete results were unavailable because of a technological issue.
BNL will compete at Brownstown on Saturday.
