MONTGOMERY— The Daviess-Martin Cooperative Invasive Species Management Area (CISMA) recently collaborated with ProTEQ volunteers and the Indiana DNR to conduct a successful Weed Wrangle at Glendale Fish & Wildlife Area.
On April 13th and 14, volunteers and partners dedicated their Saturdays to removing invasive plants from 8.5 acres of the property.
This year, volunteers cut and treated invasive shrubs and assisted the DNR in following up on previous work using their Fecon forestry mulcher. Volunteers combined mechanical and chemical control methods, helping native plants regrow without invasive plant competition.
The Martin and Daviess County SWCDs supported the event.
Groups interested in volunteering for invasive plant removal can contact SWCD Invasive Specialist Emily Finch or Glendale Property Manager Rob Sullender.
