Lengthy drug dealing investigation lands two behind bars

BEDFORD – A lengthy drug dealing investigation by the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office concluded on April 26th with the arrest of 47-year-old Jeremiah S. Bridges of Bedford on multiple drug-related offenses.

The Sheriff’s Office received information in February that Bridges was involved in dealing large quantities of methamphetamine and other drugs in and around Lawrence County. Sheriff’s Office Detective Griggs launched an investigation. Indiana State Police DES also assisted him. 

Over the next two months, officers completed a variety of investigative techniques that helped establish probable cause for Bridges’s dealing allegations. On Friday evening, around 9:00 p.m., Deputy Trueblood observed Bridges operating a vehicle on Gunsmith School Road near Eastern Heights Addition. Deputy Trueblood conducted a traffic stop, as Bridges was wanted on an active child support warrant for his arrest. Deputy Andrew Tillett assisted with the stop. 

During the traffic stop, officers detected the odor of marijuana and completed a search of Bridges’ vehicle. They located psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Brittany Mott

A female passenger, Brittany Mott, 34, of Freetown, was also taken into custody. At the Lawrence County Jail, Mott was found to possess a small amount of marijuana and two THC vape-smoking devices that she was attempting to smuggle into the jail. 

Detective Griggs applied for a search warrant for Bridges’ residence in the 100 block of Eastern Heights Drive. Judge John Plummer III issued the search warrant. Deputies Shaun Cabral and Thomas Porter assisted with serving the search warrant. During the execution of the search warrant, officers located additional marijuana, psilocybin mushrooms, methamphetamine (including multiple baggies that were mixed with Fentanyl), pills, digital scales, baggies, and other items associated with the dealing of drugs. 

Jeremiah Bridges was arrested and incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail for dealing meth, a Level 2 felony, dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony, maintaining a common nuisance, a Level 6 felony, possession of a controlled substance, a Level 6 felony), possession of marijuana with prior conviction a Level 6 felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia with a prior conviction, Class A misdemeanor.

Brittany Mott was arrested and incarcerated in the Lawrence County Jail for dealing in a narcotic drug, a Level 2 felony, trafficking with an Inmate, a Level 5 felony, obstruction of justice, a Level 6 felony, possession of methamphetamine, a Level 6 felony, visiting a common nuisance, a Class A misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
