BROWN CO.— Indiana Department of Transportation contractor E&B Paving, Inc. plans to reduce State Road 135 to one lane over Pleasant Valley Creek near Stonehead on or after Monday, May 6, to complete a structure replacement project in Brown County.
The closure on State Road 135 near Stonehead will reopen before the planned lane restrictions are placed.
The planned lane restrictions over Pleasant Valley Creek will occur approximately five miles south of S.R. 46 at Bellsville Pike. Weather permitting, the restrictions are expected to remain in place until late October. Temporary traffic signals will be utilized at the intersection of S.R. 135 and Bellsville Pike while work is underway. Crews will begin to place signage in the area before construction.
An 11-foot width restriction will be implemented throughout the closure. All semi, as well as truck and trailer traffic, should avoid traveling along S.R. 135 near Stonehead throughout the entirety of the project. Semi, truck, and trailer traffic should detour using S.R. 58 to I-65 to S.R. 46.
This project is part of a $3.7 million contract awarded to E&B Paving in September 2022. The contract includes five projects. INDOT reminds drivers to slow down, use extra caution, and avoid distractions when traveling near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
