BEDFORD – On Saturday, April 27, 2024, at 6:10 p.m., Bedford Police officers responded to Pizza Hut about an active physical domestic between a man and woman in the parking lot.
The caller reported the male had struck the female, and an employee had stepped in and was now talking to the male.
When police arrived, they found 46-year-old Christopher Bowles sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle and a Pizza Hut employee who told him he didn’t need to drive.
Officers told Bowles to step out of the vehicle. Police say Bowles smelled of alcohol.
Bowles told police he and his girlfriend had been doing Door Dash and had an argument. He was reluctant to speak to police but did mention an injury to his right cheek.
Officers also spoke to Bowles’ girlfriend. She told police Bowles had been doing Door Dash and had been drinking heavily, and they got into an argument. He forced her to pull over in the Pizza Hut parking lot where the argument continued. She claimed Bowles then punched and slapped her in the face, causing redness and pain.
Witnesses confirmed the woman’s story.
Bowles said the two argued, and “that was that.” He refused to elaborate on the details.
The woman requested to file charges against Bowles.
Bowles submitted to a breath test and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.179 percent.
He was detained on charges of domestic battery and public intoxication.
His vehicle was inventoried and towed from the scene by Bland’s Wrecker Service.
