LAFAYETTE – On Wednesday, the Indiana State Police Lafayette Post solemnly gathered for its annual memorial service to honor the 49 Indiana State Police Personnel who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
“These memorial services are a time for us to come together as a community and remember the courageous individuals who sacrificed their lives in service to others,” said Lt. Tom McKee, Commander of the Lafayette Post.
This annual memorial service holds profound significance as a poignant tradition observed statewide. It coincides with Police Officer Memorial Day, which falls on May 15th. This solemn occasion is dedicated to honoring the courageous men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the local law enforcement, elected officials, dignitaries, surviving families, and many others who joined us today to pay tribute to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Your presence and support serve as a testament to the enduring legacy of our fallen heroes.
As we reflect on the selfless dedication and unwavering commitment of our law enforcement personnel, let us renew our resolve to honor their memory by continuing to uphold the values of justice, integrity, and service they bravely defended.
