BEDFORD— On Monday morning, The Lawrence County Commissioners approved spending $25,803 from the professional services funds to develop a new county website.
Lawrence County Administrative Director Travis Sanders said a new website is needed.
“The old website is outdated and obsolete,” he added. It needs to be upgraded, and I am asking you to move forward with the Civic Plus contract.”
The new website will also allow officials to streamline meetings and post them for future viewing. Today, digitally-minded residents spend hours watching online videos. For local government, video is a powerful mechanism for sharing news and events, encouraging civic participation, meeting transparency requirements, and enabling residents to develop a sense of civic pride.
Sanders added, “One of the most pressing needs is to improve how residents access and experience municipal services. This new website will do that. It will organize our content so residents can easily locate what they are looking for.”
The new website will include parks and recreation management, emergency and mass communications, agenda and meeting management, process automation, digital services, codification, licensing and permits, web governance and ADA remediation, social media archiving, and FOIA management.
The agency said, “We empower municipal leaders to transform interactions between residents and government into consistently positive experiences that elevate resident satisfaction, increase revenue, and streamline operations.”
