One dead, one arrested after stabbing in Edinburgh

EDINBURGH — A 48-year-old man has died after a stabbing in Edinburgh early Monday morning.

A person of interest was detained for questioning.

A Monday afternoon news release identified the suspect as 34-year-old Steven Garvin of Taylorsville. Officials said the department is working with the Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office regarding all potential criminal charges resulting from the investigation.

According to the department, at about 12:22 a.m. Monday, Edinburgh officers responded to a report of a stabbing in the 6400 block of East State Road 252.

They found the victim, 48-year-old Michael G. Adair of Edinburgh, had suffered a stab wound. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, Adair was pronounced dead at the scene. His autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Steven Garvin was arrested on a preliminary charge of murder around 4:50 a.m., according to a Johnson County Sheriff’s Office booking report.
