Support Special Olympics of Lawrence County at Smokin Jim’s BBQ on Thursday, May 23

BEDFORD — Special Olympics of Lawrence County provides free sports training and athletic competition in various sports to people with intellectual disabilities.

Through this program, athletes also realize their potential, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, and build memories, all while forming friendships and getting to know people/businesses within our community.

You can help these athletes by attending the Celebrity Server Night Fundraiser on Thursday, May 23, at Smokin Jim’s BBQ from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Tip the celebrity servers generously. All the tips will benefit more than 150 Lawrence County Special Olympics athletes.

“This event, alongside many to come, is significant not only to raise money for our athletes but events like this will have a profound impact on getting our community involved and sharing the knowledge of who we are and what we do,” said Jayme Deckard, co-chair of the fundraising committee. “Events like this will serve as a dynamic platform where ideas will converge, connections will flourish, and experiences will unfold. The essence of having our athletes partake in events like this is for our community to know where their generosity goes and who it helps.
