BEDFORD— It was an exciting Friday morning at Lincoln Elementary School as 311 students dressed in Lincoln Fun Run shirts and some in superhero attire lined up at the starting line for the 5th Lincoln Fun Run.
Music filled the air. There was laughter and kids busting moves as they warmed up for the race.
Along the course, students were doused with water and silly string, and bubble machines filled the air with many bubbles.
Along the course, teachers guided students, and they were dressed in their favorite superhero costumes or characters.
Teacher and 2024 Fun Run Committee Member Jamie Hooten said the race was first run as a school fundraiser in the fall of 2019 and then changed to an end-of-the-year event.
Kindergarten through second-grade students ran the one-mile course at 9:00 a.m., and third through sixth grade students ran the course at 9:30 a.m.
“We only do one mile, and we do fun stuff while they are on the race course because, let’s face it, not everyone likes to run for fun,” said Committee Member and School Employee Angie Tidd. “Surprises around every corner make it so much more exciting for the kids.”
Nick Webb or Charlie Tidd handed the first 15 students who crossed the finish line a stick.
Water and a first aid station were available to all the students if needed or wanted.
