The Marion County Judicial Selection Committee makes “recommendations to voters concerning the retention of judges.” Indiana Code 33-33-49-13.1 to 33-33-49-13.7 authorizes the committee’s duties.
On Friday, March 15, the committee publicly interviewed eight judges who had never been through the retention process. The committee found all eight judges qualified and recommended their retention in office.
On Tuesday, June 11, the committee will conduct public interviews with eight judges who are voluntarily appearing before it. The judges, whose terms expire on December 31, 2024, participated in the retention process in 2018 and were previously recommended for retention by the committee.
The interviews will be held in the Supreme Court Conference Room (State House 319) at 200 W. Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204. Interviews are open to the public, and decorum rules are in place.
