Illinois man arrested after an early morning pursuit

FOUNTAIN CO. – On Monday after midnight, Trooper Howell patrolled Interstate 74 near the 20-mile marker. Trooper Howell attempted to stop a 2017 Chevrolet Impala for speeding.

The driver, Lysirick Miller, 19, from Decatur, IL, failed to stop for Trooper Howell and fled eastbound on Interstate 74.

Trooper Howell continued to pursue the vehicle eastbound on Interstate 74 to the 33-mile marker, where the Crawfordsville Police Department deployed tire deflation devices across the interstate. The Impala struck the tire deflation devices and stopped from Interstate 74 to US 231 on the exit ramp. Miller was safely taken into custody and later transported to Montgomery County Jail.

Miller was detained on charges of resisting law enforcement, reckless driving, and criminal recklessness.

Trooper Howell was assisted on the scene by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and the Crawfordsville Police Department.
