The Monroe County Democratic Party’s 2024 Roosevelt Reception is Wednesday, May 22

BLOOMINGTON –– The Monroe County Democratic Party presents The 2024 Roosevelt Reception
on Wednesday, May 22.

The event will be held at Switchyard Pavilion at Switchyard Park, 1601 South Rogers Street, Bloomington, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.

Your Monroe County Democratic Party renamed the Spring event to honor not only FDR’s legacy of founding the modern Democratic Party but also Eleanor Roosevelt’s voice as a global citizen and fighter for human rights.

In 1950, the former First Lady visited Indiana University to make her case for the role of the citizen in global affairs. The Monroe County Democratic Party honors that speech and her inspiration for everyday Hoosiers to pursue human rights for all.

First, meet the municipal candidates at Cocktail Hour at 6 p.m.

Dr. Amrita Chakrabarti Myers

This year, the annual Eleanor Roosevelt Keynote speaker is Dr. Amrita Chakrabarti Myers, a history professor at Indiana University specializing in the Black female experience in the U.S. and the intersectionality between race, gender, and freedom.

  • Attorney General candidate Beth White
  • Former Congressman Baron Hil
