INDIANAPOLIS— May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and the Wellness Council of Indiana (WCI), supported by Elevance Health, will complement the focus by launching a free workshop series on scenario-based strategies for supporting employee well-being.
WCI is a subsidiary of the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, which has prioritized the health of Hoosier individuals, workplaces and communities through Indiana Prosperity 2035, its recently released long-term visioning plan for the state.
The purpose of the half-day, in-person workshops is to provide Hoosier employers with the knowledge and tools to address mental health and substance misuse challenges at work, provide hands-on opportunities to explore workplace situations that align with these challenges and discuss effective strategies for recognition, intervention and support.
“We’re pleased to further extend our regional reach within the state and strengthen our ongoing collaboration with our partners through these seven workshops throughout Indiana,” shares Jennifer Pferrer, WCI executive director. “We’ll also share valuable education around vital resources like the 988 and Indiana 211 hotlines to ensure attendees are equipped with the latest information to support employees’ needs.”
Dates and locations on the event schedule include Terre Haute on May 30, Warsaw on June 4, Lawrenceburg on June 6, Evansville on June 13, Fort Wayne on June 18, Muncie on June 20 and Indianapolis on June 25. All take place at 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. local time.
