JASPER – Bedford North Lawrence finished fourth during the Unified track sectional on Saturday.
Bloomington South won the team title with 126 points, followed by Bloomington North (109), Vincennes Lincoln (102) and BNL (101). The top three teams in the 11-team field advanced to the regional.
Section winners for the Stars included Rex Evans (1:14.25 in the 400-meter dash). BNL lost valuable points by a disqualification.
“I am extremely proud of our kids and their efforts today,” BNL coach Mike Branam said. “Unfortunately, one of our kids did too well and improved by more than 20 percent, which is a violation of the Unified track maximum effort rule. Otherwise, we would have moved on because that cost us 10 points, but I can’t be upset about anyone having their best performance ever. We had a great season, and these kids have come a long way.”
