BEDFORD – Lawrence County Sheriff Greg Day told the commissioners Tuesday morning that the department will host open testing and interviews for correction officers on Saturday, May 25th.
“We are trying something new. We will hold two open sessions at 7:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. for the written test and interviews for six correction officer openings. If interested, come to either session. The application can be filled out at the open session or downloaded and filled out beforehand.”
Minimum Requirements – Must be at least 18, possess a valid driver’s license, and obtain a GED or high school diploma.
A Drug Screen and Background Investigation will also be part of the hiring process.

Sheriff Day reported 73 males, 22 females, nine Department of Correction holds, and six Level 6 offenders were being held at the jail this morning.
