BEDFORD—Lawrence County Chief Public Defender Tim Sledd addressed the commissioners Tuesday morning about updating security at the Public Defender’s Office.
Currently, entrances to the office are locked doors using a key, which needs to be changed according to the recommendations of the Indiana Supreme Court Security. The keys need to be replaced with fobs.
“This will limit the number of keys, and security will be able to monitor who enters and exits the office,” said Sledd.
“one consideration, if you choose to fund this, is that the State Public Defenders Office will reimburse the county 40 percent of the cost,” added Sledd.
The commissioners voted to pay HICOM $4,397.30 to install the system. The project will be paid for using building and maintenance funds, allowing the county to be reimbursed.
