BEDFORD – Emergency Management Director Valerie Luchauer stressed the importance of reflective house numbers to the commissioners Tuesday morning.
She urges residents to place reflective address signs on their homes and mailboxes.
“I can not stress how critical having a visible address is to get you the needed assistance,” added Luchauer. “Without the reflective addresses, it is difficult for first responders and police to find your home quickly.”
Reflective addresses are highly-visible both during the night and daytime hours, said Luchauer.
Many volunteer fire departments can provide residents with the needed reflective address numbers for a small fee.
Another way to stay safe is to sign up for Smart911. It allows residents to be prepared for emergencies by giving public safety the information they need to better help and communicate with you.
Smart911 also allows residents to stay informed of weather, traffic, and other emergencies in their community. This service is free to residents across Lawrence County through this website or mobile app.
