Department of Natural Resources will open public swimming pools in Indiana State Parks on Memorial Day weekend

INDIANA – The Department of Natural Resources will open public swimming pools in Indiana State Parks on Memorial Day weekend.

The McCormick’s Creek State Park public pool opens Friday, May 31.

Spring Mill State Park swimming pool.

Spring Mill State Park, Brown County, Shakamak, Versailles State Park, Clifty Falls, and Cagles Mill Lake (Lieber State Recreation Area SRA will open on Saturday, May 25.

The aquatic centers at Prophetstown and O’Bannon Woods state parks are also open on Saturday. Prophetstown features a lazy river, slides, and an aquatic activity area, and O’Bannon Woods guests can enjoy waterslides.

The public pool at Turkey Run State Park will open on Monday, May 27.

The Indiana Dunes State Park beach will open on Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, with lifeguards on duty. The beach will close for swimming May 28-30 and reopen on Friday, May 31.

Starve Hollow beach

Beaches that offer swimming with no lifeguards open this weekend at Patoka, Starve Hollow, Deam Lake SRA, Chain O’Lakes, Lincoln, Ouabache, Pokagon, Potato Creek, Summit Lake, and Whitewater Memorial state parks and Brookville Lake, plus Cecil M. Harden (Raccoon SRA), Hardy, Mississinewa, and Salamonie lakes, as well as at Ferdinand State Forest.

The beaches at Monroe Lake (Paynetown SRA and Fairfax SRA) will be closed due to high water levels. Cagles Mill Lake’s beach (Lieber SRA) will also not be open due to high water levels, but guests can still enjoy the public swimming pool.

Beaches remain open through Labor Day. Public pools are open through early to mid-August, depending on the availability of lifeguards as they return to school.
