BEDFORD – On May Monday, 20, 2024, at approximately 1:43 p.m., Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department deputies responded to the 80 block of Indian Creek Road after a woman reported there was a woman beating on her door, yelling for help. The woman was then snatched by a male and forced into a white four-door car. The incident was captured on the caller’s doorbell camera.
The caller said she recognized the male as 29-year-old Alex Flynn.
When Sgt. Robin Compton arrived, he saw the white vehicle backing down the driveway and activated his emergency lights to stop the vehicle. The driver stopped just a short distance from the police vehicle and then moved the vehicle closer to the home.
A woman who was crying was found standing in the driveway. The officer saw no visible injuries. The woman said she didn’t want Flynn to get in trouble but was visibly upset.
Flynn exited the vehicle and approached Sgt. Compton. He said they were just having a verbal argument.
After reviewing the video and taking statements, officers arrested Flynn without incident.
The woman finally admitted, after being confronted with the video footage, that she was afraid of Flynn and wondered what she would do if he was released. While speaking to the woman, police found some of her clothing scattered in the yard smoldering. She was asked if Flynn had set her clothes on fire, and she said yes.
Police viewed several videos of the altercation.
The first video shows the woman approaching the front door. The second video shows the woman saying her boyfriend is flipping out and has set her stuff on fire. She requests to use the phone to call her mother. The camera alerts the woman that the residents are not currently home.
The third video shows the woman saying it’s okay and she will figure it out. The woman is upset and crying.
The fourth video shows the woman walking away from the door. Then, a white Ford enters the driveway and pulls close to her. There is an exchange of yelling.
The fifth video shows Flynn exiting the video, and the woman tells him she wants nothing to do with him. Flynn then approaches the woman, grabs her, carries her to the car, and shoves her in the rear driver’s side passenger seat.
The woman is heard yelling for Flynn to get off of her, and he was hurting her.
Flynn was arrested on charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, and criminal mischief.
