Obituary: Wayne Edward Folk

January 14, 1946 – May 24, 2024

Wayne Edward Folk, 78, of Springville, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024, at his residence.

Born January 14, 1946, in Centralia, Illinois, he was the son of Ulis “Gene” and Alice (Grubb) Folk. He married Teresa Bennett on June 21, 1980, at Friends Meeting House in Paoli, and she survives.

Wayne was a retired welder and fabricator with Brunner Engineering and then Manchester Tank in Bedford. He graduated from Shawswick High School in the class of 1964 and was an avid golfer and hunter who loved the outdoors. He was a beloved husband, dad, and papaw. He was a calm, steady presence in all of our lives. He loved his wife…and her cooking.

Surviving Wayne is his wife, Teresa of Springville; one son, Kevin (Angie) Folk of Bedford; one daughter, Sherry (Rick) Terrell of Bedford; grandchildren, Stevie Terrell, Derick Terrell, Ricky Terrell, Evan Folk, and Abby Folk; ten great-grandchildren; brother, John (Joyce) Folk, of California; sister-in-law Waynetta Bennett; brother-in-law Brad (April) Bennett; and nicest and nephews who were like grandchildren, Mandy Blevins, Megan Evans, Morgan Smith, Travis Stine and Lisa Crane; close friends the Shawswick Breakfast Club and the Thursday Frog Leg Gang.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Gene and Alice Folk; his grandson, ZachStaggs; his sisters, Vicky Folk-Carter and Janice Folk-Arnce; a brother in infancy; and a sister-in-law, Sharon Stine.

Funeral services for Wayne Edward Folk will be held at Noon on Friday, May 31, 2024, at the Ferguson-Lee Chapel of Thorne-George Family Funeral Homes in Bedford, with Minister Rick Leach officiating. Burial will follow in the Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at Ferguson-Lee Chapel.
