Camping and fishing are now open at West Boggs

LOOGOOTEE – Camping and fishing are now open at West Boggs.

All trails and both disc golf courses remain closed indefinitely.

The camp store will remain closed this week so staff can help clean up.

Most of the campsites are safe and open for reservations. No events have been canceled.

“We appreciate your patience while we open the trails,” officials said in a Facebook post. “Many unstable trees and hanging limbs need attention.”

West Boggs Park crews began assessing the damage and clearing debris after strong storms on Sunday downed hundreds of trees.

Officials say, thankfully, there were no injuries.

All park services, activities, and trails were closed on Monday. Due to the dangerous situation, all cart paths are closed. The boat ramp was open to boat fishermen.

All camping reservations for Monday were canceled and refunds were issued.

Officials appreciate your patience as they figure out the clean-up situation.
