Obituary: Carl Travis Price

Carl Travis Price, 82, of Bedford, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 27, 2024.

Carl was a true Indiana Hoosier and enjoyed gardening, mushroom hunting, camping, and fishing. His love of fishing started in his youth at the Salt Creek branch of Monroe Lake and broadened after retirement to annual ocean fishing in Edisto Island, South Carolina, with his best friend and wife Jane and their bulldogs for over 20 years.

Carl joined and served in the United States Military Army Division from 1956 to 1976 as a Telecommunication & Electronics Division Chief Engineer.

Carl was awarded numerous awards and medals including:

He is survived by his beloved wife of 23 years, Jane Price, and dogs Cody and Sergeant. His daughter Heather Mansy (husband Pascal), grandsons Kieran and Kaeson of Washington State; adoptive daughter Rae Ellyn Alexander, grandchildren Rianna, Jordan, and Matthew and step-daughter Dani Lodes Cooper (wife Diane) sister Ann Ryan of Bedford; sister Sharon Harrison who preceded Carl in death; nephews Kenny Ryan (wife Debbie); Matt Ryan (wife Joni Sue) and Greg Simmons: and nieces Terri (Ryan) Brown (husband Dave); Dee (Ryan) Beyer (husband Andy) and Jaynell Simmons.

Carl will live on in his daughter Heather, who asked what he thought at the end of his life. He said, “I’ve been lucky to make it to this age. I’ve enjoyed traveling the world. I was blessed with a great mind and the will to use it. I’ve had Jane, and my family and my best friends, and you can’t really for much more than that. I’ve had a good life.”
