EDINBURGH — A 48-year-old man was injured, and eight animals died in an early Wednesday morning house fire in Edinburgh.
According to a news release from the Edinburgh Fire Department, officials responded to a garage fire at a home on Sunset Drive at around 12:04 a.m. on Wednesday.
When they arrived, they found a large portion of the home was engulfed in fire.
A 48-year-old man who lived in the home suffered burns to his legs. He was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. The injuries appeared to be non-life threatening.
Six cats and two dogs died in the fire.
According to the release, six occupants of the home and several other animals were also displaced because of the “extensive fire damage.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
