Two teens arrested after breaking into vehicles

BEDFORD – On Wednesday, May 29, at approximately 2:59 a.m., Bedford Police officers responded to the 1000 block of O Street after a report of two male juveniles breaking into vehicles in an apartment complex parking lot. 

 According to the caller, the males were wearing hoodies and black ski masks, and one was carrying a black backpack. She said the males were inside a light blue Chrysler Town & Country and going through a maroon Dodge Ram truck bed. When she confronted them, the males then took off on foot.

 Other officers found the two males running north on N Street toward 16th Street. 

Officer Clay Blackburn found the 17-year-old male in the alley of 16th and 17th Streets and N and M Streets.  He was detained. Officer Blackburn found the teen had a vape, $17, and a cell phone. The teen smelled of alcohol. 

The 16-year-old male was located by Officer Nick Crulo, hiding between a van and a wooden fence. He was detained and also had been drinking alcohol. 

Officer Brooking then located a black backpack. Inside were the ski masks and a gold Vex tobacco vape. 

Both males were transported to the Bedford Police Department. 

One of the teens admitted to stealing chewing gum from a vehicle. He acknowledged that both had been drinking Twisted Tea. The other boy denied doing anything wrong.

Juvenile probation was contacted, and both boys were released to family members after issued a promise to appear in juvenile court on June 12 at 9 a.m.

Both teens are facing charges of unauthorized entry to a vehicle, theft, and illegal consumption. One is facing resisting arrest by fleeing.
