IU Health opens second Urgent Care in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON– From earaches to fractures and allergies to stitches, the newest
Bloomington IU Health Urgent Care location at 482 S. Liberty Drive aims to help patients get the
non-emergency care they need, faster.

Opening Tuesday, June 4, this Westside office will offer walk-in service Monday through Friday,
8 am – 8 pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 8 am – 6 pm. Individuals will also be able to save a
spot in line through the website.

“Bloomington is a hub for healthcare in south-central Indiana, and we’re always looking at how
to best serve the needs of our local communities,” said Mike Teague, MD, IU Health South
Central Region Primary Care Service Line Medical Executive. “The addition of a second urgent
care on Bloomington’s West side is an opportunity to better provide convenient, non-emergency
care for those who develop minor medical concerns that can’t wait for a primary care
appointment.”

IU Health Urgent Care locations are open weekdays, weekends and during the holidays when
doctor’s offices may be closed. They’re also important for ensuring emergency department
resources are reserved for those needing the highest acuity level of care.

This office was designed to fit into the team-based care model IU Health provides to the
regional south-central Indiana community. This approach aims to provide care by utilizing physicians, advanced practice providers (nurse practitioners, physician assistants), and other healthcare experts to address the needs of patients without relying entirely on physicians. This frees up physicians for those cases where they are truly needed and can result in quicker care for patients.

The new Bloomington location will also house IU Health Occupational Health services, which
works with companies to offer common employee-focused medical services,

including injury treatment, testing and screenings, immunizations and return-to-work exams.
