Fight at gas station lands woman in jail

BEDFORD – On Friday, May 24, at approximately 12:48 p.m., Bedford Police officers were dispatched to Circle K, located at 1325 L Street, after a report of a fight.

When Officer Steven Hatton Jr. arrived, he spoke to a male and his mother, who reported that 31-year-old Santana Wiliams had struck her. Williams then attempted to retrieve the children from the woman’s vehicle.

Santana Williams

The female victim told police she had stopped at the station to get gas when Williams approached her vehicle and attempted to take the children.

The male told police he was married to Santana, but they were no longer living together. He said Williams had contacted him, but because he didn’t respond fast enough, she came looking for him.

As Williams was attempting to take the children, she began arguing with the male, and the female victim got between the two to prevent Williams from getting into her vehicle and to de-escalate the situation.

She told police Williams became aggressive and grabbed her hair, then proceeded to strike her in the right eye.

The male told police that this was an ongoing issue with Williams and that he was currently working with the courts to solve it.

Major Jeremy Bridges spoke to Williams, who said she had texted the male, informing him she wanted the children. She knew he was in Bedford, and as she was passing, Circle K saw him so she turned around to get the children.

She told police the male hit her in the mouth and caused her tooth to break. She said she attempted to walk away but the male wouldn’t let her leave.

Police reviewed camera footage from Circle K. In the video, the male and female are seen at the gas pump getting fuel. A few moments later, Williams approaches the vehicle and opens the front passenger door where the male is sitting, and then opens the rear passenger door where the children are. There is an argument between the male and Wiliams. The male’s mother walks over and gets between the male and Williams. Williams then attempts to push past the woman and get into the vehicle, but the woman will not allow her. This causes Williams to shove the woman. Williams then grabs the woman’s hair and strikes her in the face.

The woman walks away from the vehicle and is seen removing her glasses. She then goes back to the vehicle to retrieve the children. In the meantime, the male attempts to calm Williams and has her step away from the vehicle. Williams is then seen shoving the male and instructs the children to get out of the vehicle and go to her vehicle parked at the side of the building. Williams then walks toward her vehicle, where the children are located.

Williams was detained and transported to the Bedford Police Department for booking and then to jail on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a minor.

Williams had a white pill in her possession.

The children were returned to the male.

The female victim refused medical treatment for her injury.
