INDIANA – Indiana 211 is a Family and Social Services Administration division that connects all Hoosiers to resources in their area. Its mission is to improve quality of life by connecting people to health and human service resources through a highly skilled team of community navigators.
There are no eligibility requirements, income standards, or rules for using the service. Anyone can call 2-1-1. The service is statewide, confidential, free, and available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to Hoosiers.
Through collaboration with the Indiana State Library, Indiana 211 hopes to increase the program’s awareness among Indiana citizens and add additional resources to the database.
The Indiana 211 Database Curation Team maintains and updates the database, which provides information on thousands of resources and services for various needs—everything from soup kitchens to legal aid to mental health resources.
Housing, utilities assistance, and food continue to be the greatest needs. However, Indiana 211 is perpetually trying to grow its resources toward areas of unmet needs. Pillars of focus for 2024 include food, housing, transportation, and domestic violence, but there are many other focus areas, including utilities, healthcare, mental health, employment, and education. Indiana 211 has an interactive dashboard to understand the needs of communities further. Based on the metrics entered, the areas of need can be summarized using demographics, location, and time of year. The Indiana 211 dashboard is available here.
The Request a Speaker form can be found here to request an Indiana 211 presentation speaker or resource table. Marketing materials such as bookmarks and wallet-sized info cards can also be requested via email. From the Indiana 211 webpage, an organization can also find out about being added to the Indiana 211 database as a resource and can update an existing resource listing.
