BEDFORD – On March 5, 2024, at 6:18 p.m., Bedford Police officers responded to the 100 block of Edgewood Drive after a report of a theft.
A woman reported that 41-year-old Edward Parker had taken money out of her bank account and transferred it to his CashApp account.
The woman said Parker would come to her house to do work and errands. On January 1, 2024, the woman sent Parker to JayC Plus to get her groceries and gave him her debit card. That is when she believes he wrote down the numbers.
According to bank statements, between February 15 and March 4, 2024, $1,259 was transferred from the woman’s account into different CashApp accounts. The money transfers were tagged with the names Parker and Amanda.
The woman canceled her debit card and her bank refunded her the money on March 6, 2024.
Police secured a search warrant from Lawrence County Superior Court II Judge Robert Cline to obtain information on the transactions from CashApp.
Police learned the CashApp accounts belonged to Parker. Police say Parker had linked the woman’s debit card to his account.
Police contacted Parker, but he would not answer the phone, so a message was left requesting to speak to him. Parker never returned the phone calls.
The information was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor’s Office and a warrant was issued for Parker’s arrest on a charge of theft greater than $750.
